Mommy & Me - NOLA Baby & Family Magazine

On May 14th our Mommy & Me Group had a special visit from the publisher of 

NOLA Baby & Family Magazine, Ann Herren.  

The magazine is an excellent resource on parenting that provides educational articles as well as listings for local information on New Orleans family-friendly events.  Their annual guides on summer camps and schools are a must-read for parents but each issue is packed with other favorites like their "Events" section and advice column "Word to Your Momma."

Ann handed out a sheet to the moms titled, "100 Ways to be kind to your child," from the website Creative with Kids.  We have included the link here because it so sweet and offers such simple ideas to make your child feel loved.

Since summer is upon us and our kiddos are out of school, our group discussed summer planning with toddlers.  After a little internet research, we found dozens of cute ideas to help us plan and stay organized during the vacation months.

Local Author Visits with Juju the GOOD Voodoo

Local New Orleans Author, Michelle Hirstius, visited our Mommy & Me Group to read Juju the GOOD Voodoo this week!  Kids and Moms all enjoyed the reading!

Ascension Fitness Visits Mommy & Me!

Jennifer Lormand, owner of Ascension Fitness, visited our Mommy & Me Group!  Jennifer is a mom of two boys with a third son due in August.  She has a degree in Exercise Physiology and is the creator of "MommyMovement."  "MommyMovement" is a popular 8-week exercise program which helps new moms get their pre-baby bodies back.  She recently wrote a book about the program, "MommyMovement. New Baby. New Body. New Life."  Jennifer has made it her mission to help moms love their bodies!  You can download a free chapter here - it is truly inspirational!

Jennifer talked with us about post-natal exercise and nutrition, specific exercises to flatten our stomachs and performed diastasis checks.  She even raffled off one of her books!  Jennifer's private personal training studio, Ascension Fitness, is located in Metairie and is available by appointment.

Our First Mommy & Me Group with Macaroni Kid!

New Orleans Macaroni Kid joined us for our Mommy & Me launch on April 16th!  Macaroni Kid is an online newsletter that lists EVERYTHING that is going on in the New Orleans area for families each week.  The publisher, Nicole Provosty, gave us great ideas on where to take our kids for fun family events including many free venues.  To sign up for the news letter click here.
